Saturday Salida
This Saturday sees the launch of the new Saturday Salida. The idea is that each Saturday, club members meet at a coffee shop at 9AM (9:30 this Sat) for a pre-ride meet and chat before embarking on their planned rides. Group up, go solo, it doesn’t matter. The idea is that we create a regular cadence of rides, so come along even if you only plan to have a coffee! If you would like company and have a ride planned, share the details on the whatsapp group or facebook ahead of time.

We haven’t settled on a long term venue yet so we will trial a few. This Saturday:

We are running the Malcolm Eccles trophy event over 2 nights again:
RRC event at Hapton 10m TT on Tuesday 16th August and NLRC Bashall 10m TT on Wed 17th August.
Sign on from 6.30pm RRC M65 Business Park, Hapton and NLRC Edisford bridge car park
On the Wednesday after the race we will be having a drink at the Edisford Arms; food can be ordered too.
Race entry on the night, £5 per rider.

Strong blustery winds made it tough for the riders in the latest round of Rossendale Road Club’s mid-week cycling time trial series on Tuesday and it was Helen Thomas, riding a standard road bike and in her first season of racing, who perhaps battled best through the conditions. All the recorded times were well down on normal, but Helen did well to finish in 35:16 for the hilly circuit.
Best valley club member overall was Derek Schofield in 28:59 passing Richie Watts, who started 1 minute in front of him, on the final lap. Watts finishing time was 30:10.
The series continues next Tuesday, when hopefully conditions will be improved, and all are welcome. Sign on from 6:30pm at the M65 Business Park, Hapton.
