Bolton by Bowland TT

Rossendale Road Club opened the 2022 cycling time trial series by hosting their traditional hilly 11 mile event at Bolton by Bowland on Saturday, the first round of the North Lancs Spoco series. And, for the first time for a few years, the event was blessed with fine weather. The circuit starts with the main climb out of the village towards Tosside, and a slight tail wind was a welcome relief to many riders in this first event.

And it was Richard Bideau of the Pendle Forest club who opened his 2022 account with a fine win in a very quick time of 24:05 min. First valley club member home was Mick Taylor, riding a standard road bike in 35th place in 29:55, with Derek Schofield in 40th, just under 2 minutes back.

Crawshawbooth’s Peter Heywood posted a time of 32:37 for his 44th spot, with daughter Eve at 35:12. And to continue the family affair, Mick Taylor’s daughter, Katie, finished in 33:01 for her 45th placing.

The series now continues with events nearly every weekend through to May, full fixtures and results may be found on the Cycling Time Trials website.
