Weekly Roundup
The 2nd round of this year’s British Cycling’s categorised road races took place on Saturday on a multi-lap event around the Bashall Eaves circuit near Clitheroe, with 3 members from Rossendale Road Club taking part. The event turned out to be super tough, with the strong winds adding to the amount of climbing, resulting in only 20 finishers from the 60 starters. Mark Berry and Iain Hazell both did well to finish in the 2nd and 3rd groups, which finished 3 and 4 minutes behind the first 10, while James Eastwood, in his first road race, did well to make the front group selection before calling it a day at the halfway point. The premier time trial event of the weekend was Saturday’s Tour of Ingleborough, starting in Ingleton, then to Clapham, Settle and Ribblehead, returning via Chapel le Dale. Michael Taylor was the only RRC representative for the hilly 27 mile circuit and he turned in a time of 1:22:40 for his 31st place. The event was won by Richard Bideau of Pendle Forest CC, continuing his fine season in 1:03:10.
