All about… Le Grim Pierre

Le Grim Pierre is the ultimate challenge of the pinnacle climbs of the West Pennines. Not overly long at 70 miles (114km) but with nearly 9000ft (2700m) of climbing. Climbs include:

  • Tower Causeway

  • Shore Road Hill

  • Kebs Road

  • Mytholm Steeps (#139)

  • Widdop

  • Thursden

  • Nick O’Pendle (#74)

  • Crown Point (#174)

All are invited to take on this challenge, starting at Kay Street Car Park, Rawtenstall at 9:00AM, Sunday 21st August.

This is an unsupported ride, so please ensure you bring kit to deal with mechanicals, waterproofs, food etc. You should download the GPX for navigation here: Strava Le Grim Pierre. Written route details are also available in the gallery below.

There are 2 recommended cafe stops en route :

The Old Dairy @ Wycoller after 60km
The Cabin @ Barley after 74km

This is a challenging route and not everyone will want to take on the whole thing. There are a few options you can take to shorten the route if you wish.

At 5pm we will all meet at the Old Cobblers Inn, New Hall Hey Road for some food and drinks (they do a Carvery to refuel!)
